Vigeo Eiris is recruiting a Specialised Researcher – Controversial Activities Screening (CAS)

Permanent contract / Full time / ASAP / Paris (Bagnolet) or London (Vauxhall)


Under the direction of the CAS Product Manager, the researcher will be responsible for:

  • Identifying and collecting information
    • Collect, review and summarise all relevant available information and documentation (financial reporting, sustainability reporting, investor presentations, stakeholder communication) on the themes and companies under their responsibility
  • Evaluating companies’ involvement
    • Explore a company’s direct activities and those linked with its subsidiaries and associates identifying and assessing companies’ involvement in controversial activities, including by carrying out segment / product sales revenues estimates
    • Write a qualitative synthesis of a company’s involvement in such activities and input quantitative indicators to reflect such involvement
    • Deliver the research expected in due time according to Vigeo Eiris processes and quality standards
    • Answer internal and external demands for targeting, collecting and summarizing specific research themes/activities
    • Contribute to producing reports associated to research produced within the division
  • Developing, transmitting and sharing expertise
    • Working transversally across 38 sectors of analysis, supported by Vigeo Eiris sector specialists, develop knowledge on themes associated to screening activities, on Vigeo Eiris rating framework and on sectors under review
    • Contribute to the production of research pieces derived from screening lines and on associated bespoke demands
    • Monitor key challenges and trends associated with the research
    • Bring ideas to support the continued development of the research line and lead on specific projects as needed
    • Mentor junior CAS researchers and provide training to other members of the organisation

These missions are not exhaustive and can be scalable.


  • General
    • Experience in ESG / SRI research, ideally on negative screening and controversial activities
    • Understanding of and strong interest in sustainability / CSR issues
    • Expertise in areas such as deforestation, palm oil, biofuels, and biodiversity
    • Demonstrable experience of project management
    • Academic background in life sciences and similar subjects welcome
    • Good working knowledge of other languages
  • Technical
    • Experience with technical document research and information organisation
    • Document research techniques (internet and data bases)
    • Collection and manipulation of quantitative and qualitative data
    • Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, PPT) with proven ability to manage large datasets in Exce
  • Linguistic
    • Analytical, synthesis and composition skills
    • Excellent proficiency of written and spoken in English

    • Organisation, rigour and method
    • Team spirit, communication and good listening skills
    • Ability to work autonomously, under supervision, and in support of a team
    • Ability to balance operational expectations with quality (time management)
