Fostering dialogue, facilitating interactions

Beyond research and analysis, V.E is open to dialogue and keen to promote social responsibility and responsible investment to civil society organisations – NGOs, trade unions and international organisations.

In addition to its scientific partnerships, V.E is dedicated to:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with the key institutional players amongst its stakeholders: the investment community, asset managers, professional federations and trade unions, civil society and intergovernmental networks
  • Supporting the creation of an environment conducive to social responsibility and the development of responsible investment
  • Encouraging informed decision-making
  • Taking part in the activities and governance of multi-stakeholder structures in our sphere of influence and activity

Comité 21
V.E has been a member of Comité 21 since 2015. Created after the 1992 Rio conference, Comité 21 aims at implementing sustainable development in organisations, companies and territories. It has been a forerunner in engaging sustainable development issues amongst various stakeholders in France. This unique network of more than 500 members focuses on multi-stakeholder partnerships, operational action and innovation with more than 130 businesses (multinational companies and SMEs), 185 local authorities (city councils, departments and regions), 185 NGOs (environment, development, community, human rights) and 32 public and higher education institutions.

Eurosif, UKSIF, FIR
V.E is a member of the European Sustainable Investment Forum. Eurosif is the leading European SRI (sustainable and responsible investment) membership organisation whose aim is to promote sustainability through European financial markets. Eurosif works in partnership with Europe-based national Sustainable Investment Fora (SIFs) with the direct support of their network which spans over 400 European organisations from the sustainable investment industry value chain. These organisations include institutional investors, asset managers, financial services, index providers and ESG research and analysis firms totalling over €8 trillion in total assets. V.E is also a member of the French and UK SIF.

EIRIS Foundation
The EIRIS Foundation is a leading UK responsible investment charity. It identifies gaps, barriers, opportunities and enablers to help organisations and individuals maximise their contribution to the responsible business and investment agenda. Since December 2015, the EIRIS Foundation has been a shareholder of Vigeo.


GISR was launched in June 2011 as a joint project between Ceres and Tellus Institute, two non-profit research and education institutions. The Global Initiative for Sustainability Ratings (GISR) is a public interest organisation aimed at making financial markets agents of, rather than impediments to, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and broader global sustainability agenda. As a multi-stakeholder initiative with the public interest at its core, GISR’s vision is to transform the definition of corporate value in the 21st century so that markets reward the preservation and enhancement of all forms of capital – human, intellectual, natural, social and financial. The GISR Ratings Directory offers a compilation of corporate sustainability Ratings (ESG), Rankings and Indexes (RRIs) ratesustainability.org

GRI – Global Reporting Initiative
V.E has been a GRI Gold member since 2017. GRI is an independent international organisation that helps businesses, governments and other organisations understand and communicate the impact of business on critical sustainability issues such as climate change, human rights, corruption and many others. GRI provides sustainability reporting guidelines so organisations may consider their impact on a wide range of sustainability issues, enabling them to be more transparent about the risks and opportunities they face.

Global Compact
The United Nations Global Compact is a voluntary corporate sustainability initiative calling companies to align their strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and to take actions that advance societal goals such as the Sustainable Development Goals. More than 12,000 signatories from 170 countries contribute to the UNGC, which has an emphasis on collaboration and innovation. V.E has been a Global Compact signatory since 2003.

V.E has been a member of Orée since 2012. Founded in 1992, Orée is a non-profit organisation that brings companies and local authorities together to explore their environmental impact and, in particular, advise on practical aspects on environmental management at  landscape level. The NGO provides practical solutions for its network of members including insights on three main issues: Biodiversity and Economics; Circular Economy; CSR Reporting and the Local Impact of Business: oree.org

As the only tripartite UN agency, the ILO brings together government representatives, employers and workers from the 187 member states to establish international norms, develop policies and design programs promoting decent working conditions globally. V.E grants the ILO access to its database for publications and scientific work.

Launched in 2006, the UN PRI is the world’s leading proponent of responsible investment. The Principles for Responsible Investment aim to understand the investment implications of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors and to support its international network of investor signatories in incorporating these factors into their investment and ownership decisions. The PRI acts in the long-term interests of its signatories, of the financial markets and economies in which they operate and ultimately of the environment and society as a whole. V.E is a PRI signatory and Peter Webster, our Director of International Affairs, sits on the Board.

Transparency International France
Transparency International is a global initiative driven by a vision of a world in which states, companies, civil society and individuals are free of all forms of corruption. With more than 100 branches globally and an International Secretariat in Berlin the organisation is working to make this vision a reality. In 2010 Vigeo announced its decision to rate the ‘transparency and integrity of strategies of influence and practice’ of listed companies; the definition of this new criterion has been realised in collaboration with Transparency International France. Three years later a study observing and comparing the behaviour of 745 European and American companies in their implementation of influence policies was published.

The IUF is the International Workers Union of the Food, Agriculture, Hotel, Restaurant Catering, Tobacco sectors and related fields. This partnership agreement is based on sharing information collected by the trade union organisation on the companies rated by V.E.

UNI is the International Union Federation of the Service Industry. This partnership agreement is based on sharing information collected by the trade union organisation on the companies rated by V.E.

RHSF – Human Resources Without Borders
Created in 2006, RHSF is an international NGO focused on human rights in the supply chain. Through its partnership with V.E RHSF has conducted projects related to CSR in the Asian supply chain.
