London | Paris – V.E, a Moody’s affiliate, has provided a Second Party Opinion (SPO) on Eni’s Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework. The agency assigned an SPO on the integration of four environmental factors to the Sustainability-Linked Instruments to be issued by Eni in compliance with the Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework created to govern their issuances. V.E is of the opinion that this Framework is aligned with the core components of the Sustainability-Linked Loan Principles (SLLP) 2020 and Sustainability-Linked Bond Principles (SLBP) 2020.
“With Key Performance Indicators linked to Renewable Installed Capacity, Net Carbon Footprint Upstream, Net GHG Lifecycle Emissions, and Net Carbon Intensity, Eni’s Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework exhibits an advanced materiality and the SPTs demonstrate a robust level of ambition,” said Adriana Cruz, Head of Sustainable Finance Research at V.E.
Eni is a global energy company, engaged in the entire value chain: from the exploration, development and extraction of oil and natural gas, to the generation of electricity from cogeneration and renewable sources, traditional and biorefining and chemicals, and the development of circular economy processes. Eni extends its reach to end markets, selling gas, electricity and products to retail and business customers and local markets.
V.E’s SPOs on sustainability credentials help market participants secure financing through sustainable bonds and loans, strengthen issuers’ and projects’ credibility, and give investors confidence. To date, V.E has produced more than 330 SPOs on sustainable financing operations across over 30 countries. Most recently, V.E has provided SPOs for Verallia’s Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework, Rexel’s Sustainability-Linked Bonds, and for the Government of Andorra’s Green, Social, and Sustainability Bond Framework.
