Positive Alert on EDF’s Commitments to Human Rights
Vigeo has just distributed an upgraded opinion of its rating for EDF for the respect of Human Rights to its investor and asset manager clients.
This alert follows the signing of a collective agreement to promote professional equality between men and women. This agreement is unique in that it establishes quantitative objectives covering 36% of the company’s workforce. The agreement, signed with union representatives (CFDT, CFE-CGC, CGT, CGT-FO), will be implemented over the period between 2012-2014. It establishes precise objectives for gender balance and the proportion of women in managerial positions; the rate of women in middle-management roles is fixed at 33%, and of female directors in the Executive Committee at 23%. The pay difference between men and women taking seniority into account is capped at 1%.
In its previous review, Vigeo had a high level of assurance on the company’s commitment to this issue. From the agency’s point of view, this agreement is likely to contribute to reinforce the cohesion of EDF’s human capital, improve the social climate at the company and raise its attractiveness to talent as well as investors and asset managers who are attentive to good managerial integration of human rights
