To read: a parliamentary report on ” the Extension of the widened responsibility of producers in the print media “
Vigeo Eiris was auditioned within the scope of the elaboration of this important report written by deputy Serge Bardy and senator Gérard Miquel to Ministers Ségolène Royal and Audrey Azoulay on the environmental responsibility of print media companies.
Messrs Bardy’s and Miquel’s report, which was prepared between July 2015 and February 2016, is in line with the August 17th 2015 law relative to the energetic transition for green growth. It fulfills the request from the Ecology and Culture’s ministers for an examination of the principles and implementation modalities of the article 91 of the aforementioned law, planning to include the press in the scope of the graphic paper sector’s eco-organism from January 1st 2017 onwards. The report formulates innovative proposals aiming to improve the newspapers and magazine producers’ performance on environmental responsibility, via an eco-contribution.
The amount of this contribution to the territorial authorities’ expenses for paper collecting, sorting and recycling will vary depending on the degree of integration of the social and environmental responsibility principles in the management of those companies. Fouad Benseddik, Director of Methods at Vigeo Eiris, presented Vigeo Eiris’ rating methodology and analyses on the global scale behavior of press companies on environmental and social issues.
